Federal Skilled Worker – FSW

Canadian Immigration Consultant In Lahore-Federal Skilled Worker – FSW

The Federal Skilled Worker program is designed for individuals who can become economically established in Canada and intend to live in a province other than Quebec. This program offers a pathway to permanent residency for skilled workers who demonstrate the potential to contribute to Canada’s economy.

Foreign nationals applying for Canadian permanent residence as skilled workers are initially considered under the Federal Skilled Worker category. This is the most competitive category, selecting only the highest-ranking candidates from the Express Entry pool. Successful applicants have the privilege of living and working anywhere in Canada, except Quebec. Applicants under this category are assessed based on six selection factors:

  • Education
  • Age
  • Experience
  • Language Skills in one of Canada’s two official languages
  • Job Offer
  • Adaptability
These factors are integral components of a 100-point grid utilized to evaluate eligibility for the Federal Skilled Worker Program. Each factor contributes points based on your achievements. While the current minimum score required is 67 points, reaching this threshold does not guarantee selection. Applicants must compete within the Express Entry pool to receive an invitation to apply for permanent residency. This process ensures that only the highest-ranking candidates, who demonstrate strong potential to contribute to Canada’s economy, are selected for immigration

1. EDUCATION:

Applicants under the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) class must have completed at least Canadian high school education. However, given the competitiveness of this immigration category, we strongly advise having two post-secondary qualifications to maximize points in the skills transferability factor of the Express Entry system. These qualifications could include two bachelor’s degrees, a combination of a bachelor’s and a master’s degree, or a post-secondary diploma along with a three-year degree progr

Having additional post-secondary qualifications not only enhances your points in the Express Entry system but also demonstrates a higher level of education and skill transferability, making you a more competitive candidate for Canadian permanent residency. This strategic approach can significantly improve your chances of receiving an invitation to apply for PR and ultimately achieving your goal of settling in Canada

The following points are awarded for Pakistani qualifications:

2. Age
  • Applicants can earn a maximum of 12 points for their age up until they turn 35 years old. After that, they lose 1 point for each subsequent year, and by age 47, they receive 0 points for age.
  • Considering the competitive nature of the Express Entry system, we highly recommend that applicants aim to be under the age of 35 to maximize their competitiveness within the pool. Beyond this age threshold, applicants may need to rely on other factors such as securing a job offer or obtaining a provincial nomination to bolster their Express Entry profile.

This strategic advice underscores the importance of age in the points-based assessment system. It encourages applicants to plan strategically and leverage their age advantage to enhance their overall score and improve their chances of receiving an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residency

3. Experience
  • To qualify under the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) category, applicants must have at least one year of continuous, full-time, or equivalent part-time post-qualification experience at NOC levels 0, A, or B.
For competitive standing in the Express Entry system, we highly recommend having a minimum of three years of qualifying work experience. This not only meets the eligibility criteria but also allows applicants to earn points in the skills transferability factors, which are crucial for enhancing their profile:
    • 1 Year Experience: Earns 9 points
    • 2-3 Years Experience: Earns 11 points
    • 4-5 Years Experience: Earns 13 points
    • 6+ Years Experience: Earns 15 points

Having substantial work experience not only strengthens an applicant’s chances within the Express Entry pool but also demonstrates a depth of skills and adaptability that are valued by Canadian immigration authorities. This strategic approach can significantly improve an applicant’s overall score and increase their likelihood of receiving an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residency

4. Language

Applicants applying under the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) category must achieve a minimum of CLB 7 (equivalent to IELTS 6.0) in each of the four language skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. This proficiency level is crucial for meeting the basic eligibility requirements.

To enhance their profile in the Express Entry system, we recommend aiming for a higher language score, ideally CLB 9 or higher. This not only increases points in the skills transferability factor but also strengthens overall candidacy for Canadian permanent residency.

Additionally, applicants can earn 4 additional points in the FSW points table for proficiency in a second official language, either English or French. Demonstrating proficiency in both languages not only enhances points but also reflects adaptability and readiness to integrate into Canadian society.

Achieving a higher language proficiency score is a strategic way to improve competitiveness within the Express Entry pool. It showcases strong communication abilities and increases the likelihood of receiving an invitation to apply for PR in Canada

5. Arranged Employment

Applicants applying under the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) category can earn additional points in the Express Entry system based on job offers:

  • 10 Points: Applicants receive an additional 10 points for a full-time, permanent job offer at NOC levels 0, A, or B for one year.

Furthermore, the impact of a job offer varies depending on the position’s classification:

  • 200 Points: If the job offer is at a managerial level (NOC 0), applicants can receive 200 additional points in the Express Entry pool.
  • 50 Points: A job offer at a professional or technical level (NOC A or B) earns applicants 50 additional points.

Securing a job offer not only increases points in the Express Entry system but also demonstrates commitment and readiness to contribute to Canada’s workforce. This strategic advantage can significantly boost an applicant’s overall score, improving their chances of receiving an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residency

6. Adaptability

Applicants under the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) category can earn an additional 10 points in the adaptability factor, which plays a crucial role in their overall score in the Express Entry system. Points can be earned for various factors that demonstrate adaptability and potential for integration into Canadian society:

  1. Spouse’s Language Skills: Points can be earned if the applicant’s spouse demonstrates language proficiency in English or French at CLB 5 level or higher.
  2. Blood Relatives in Canada: Having a close blood relative (parent, grandparent, child, uncle, aunt, sibling, niece, or nephew) who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident can also earn points.
  3. Canadian Post-Secondary Studies: Points are awarded if the applicant or their spouse has completed post-secondary education in Canada.
  4. Canadian Work Experience: Points can be earned based on the applicant’s or their spouse’s work experience in Canada.
  5. Arranged Employment: Having a valid job offer from a Canadian employer can contribute points under the adaptability factor.

These adaptability points recognize factors that facilitate successful settlement and integration into Canadian society. They not only enhance an applicant’s overall score but also reflect readiness and preparedness to contribute positively to Canada’s economy and community. This strategic approach can strengthen an applicant’s profile in the Express Entry pool, increasing their chances of receiving an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residency.
