The Federal Skilled Trades Class is for skilled trades workers who can economically establish themselves in Canada. This program offers them a chance to become permanent residents, provided they intend to live outside Quebec.

Minimum Requirements:

Language Proficiency: CLB 5 for listening and speaking, and CLB 4 for reading and writing.
Work Experience: At least 2 years of full-time (or equivalent part-time) work experience in the past 5 years.
Job Offer or Qualification: You must have a valid job offer or a Certificate of Qualification from a federal, provincial, or territorial authority.
Education: There’s no education requirement for this category. However, to boost your points, your secondary or post-secondary qualification, whether Canadian or foreign, should be evaluated by a designated Canadian body.

Skilled work experience

The Federal Skilled Trades Program categorizes skilled trades under specific groups in the National Occupational Classification (NOC):

Major Group 72: Industrial, electrical, and construction trades
Major Group 73: Maintenance and equipment operation trades
Major Group 82: Supervisors and technical roles in natural resources, agriculture, and related production
Major Group 92: Supervisors and central control operators in processing, manufacturing, and utilities
Minor Group 632: Chefs and cooks
Minor Group 633: Butchers and bakers

Pre-Requisites:

Applicants who meet the education, age, and experience criteria for Express Entry must fulfill several prerequisites before submitting their application. These prerequisites include:

Language Proficiency Test: Proof of language proficiency is mandatory for all applicants, regardless of whether they come from an English or French-speaking country or have an education from Canada or another English-speaking nation.
Educational Credential Assessment (ECA): Any foreign qualifications, except those awarded by Canadian universities and colleges, must be evaluated for equivalency in Canada.

ASSESSMENT PROCESS FOR CANADIAN IMMIGRATION BY IMMIGRATION DEPARTMENT (IRCC)
